Wow, 5 years of Faking it eh? Longer than the Small Faces did it 'for real'! Well on our launch night at Venue 229 in London, I don't think any of us anticipated quite what lay ahead! Although the place wasn't packed out that first night, we must have done our research and PR well as we had some very influential people in attendance. Namely John Hellier (author of 'All Too Beautiful') and Val Weedon (who worked for Small Faces Fan Club). Both have become close friends of ours and as well as giving us some great initial quotes for our promo gumpf, they have both been involved in putting gigs our way... A HUGE thankyou to you both x
Word seemed to spread very fast that we were doing something good and between then and now we've had many, many, many a highlight! But the biggest consistant highlight are the people that come to see/hear us play wherever we are, whatever the weather... Yes some of you are odd, obssesive, even stalker-like, but we love you all... Seriously THANK YOU VERY MUCH : )
Ok, this is begining to sound like a 'we're splitting up speech'... It's not!! We continue with lots of gigs already in for the rest of 2012, including Germany, where we hope to pick up some more dates. So until you've had enough of us or my hair falls out, it's onwards and upwards!
Finally the biggest thank of all must go to four people who really did make all this possible: The Small Faces! Since they were introduced to me by my Dad at about 12/13 (a crucial time of musical awareness and influence -thanks Dad) I was hooked. Steve Marriott became and still is my musical icon. I seemed to relate more to the Small Faces and their music than any other 60's band and if you'd have seen my old originals band from my late teens onwards you'd have seen me emulating the said small frontman's moves even then!
(Edit - Ok Matt, enough! This ain't an autobiography!)
So here's to the next 5 years and we'll see you at a gig real soon. Happy Birthday Fakers! Cheers!
Matt
